This is where we can share videos and photos of transformer costumes. All I ask is that we number them, so we can refer to them precisely.Video #10: This is the Starscream costume I forgot to post that I mentioned in class today. It looks like it is doable. Furthermore, the alternate mode looks fairly comfortable with the kneepads. The costume needs a mask, however. The make-up is lame!
Video #9: Mark has way too much time on his hands. Take your time scrolling through the still photos. I have embedded the video at the bottom of the page below. His Starscream is perhaps the best alternate mode Starscream costume I have seen. Truly impressive. So are his prices. I don't like the fact that it takes two extra people to help the costume-wearer transform. http://www.marksprojects.com/costumestrans.htm
Video #8: Here is an entertaining assortment of amateur transformer costumes.
Video #7: Now here is a creative fellow. He turns a kid's electric car into a drivable Transformer costume. Does anyone have an electric car that their little brother or sister doesn't want anymore? Seriously, we could paint any model car yellow, and that would be Bumblebee in alternate mode. Note that this would be ideal for a 50-year old man; I wouldn't even have to walk. Just make sure the battery is fully-charged.
Video #6: A nice video showing amateur G1 Optimus Prime and Starscream costumes transforming. As a plus, it shows the costumes in various states of construction so you can get an idea how they were built. I particularly like the hinged skateboard-type base that the Optimus costume employs. Very clever...
Video #5: Ten-foot tall non-transforming Optimus and Megatron costumes. These would be effective for scaring the Early Childhood children.
Video #4: An amateur non-transforming Bumblebee costume for a little kid. The interesting part of this video is that it shows how to use foam to make a more modern transformer-look as you see in the movies. I have an old bicycle helmet in my classroom for potential use as a transformer helmet.
Video #3: A terrible-to-wear, good-looking in alternate mode, Optimus costume for a kid. Amazing detail in alternate mode, but the kid can barely walk in robot mode.
Video #2: An amateur cardboard-box based Bumblebee costume. He transforms into a Camaro at about 1:00. Too brutal of transformation for a 50-year old man. We have to do better than this...
Video #1: A professional transforming Bumblebee costume. Pretty much over-the-top...
